| COOKIE POLICY

What are cookies?

Cookies are pieces of information stored by the web browser when users visit a website with any suitable device (such as a PC, a tablet or a smartphone). As clarified by the Italian Privacy Authority in its FAQ available at www.garanteprivacy.it, cookies are « small text files » – consisting of letters and numbers – « that the websites visited by the user send to his or her terminal (usually the browser), where they are stored before being sent back to the same websites during the next visit by the same user ». Each cookie contains different data (for example, the name of the server from which it comes, a numeric identifier, etc.). Furthermore, it can remain in the system for the duration of a session (until the browser is closed), or for long periods, and may contain a unique identification code. It is not possible to use cookies to access information stored on the user’s device, even if cookies are downloaded on it.
Cookies cannot upload codes of any kind, carry viruses, or malware and are not harmful to the user’s terminal.

What cookies are for

Depending on their type, cookies are used for different purposes. In fact, some of them are strictly necessary for a website to function properly (technical cookies), whereas others optimise its performance in order to offer a better experience to the user. Furthermore, they can also allow individuals to capture statistics regarding the use of the website, like cookies analytics, or allow to display advertising, such as profiling cookies.

User consent

By connecting to any cocif.com page for the first time, the user will see a banner pop-up with a brief version of the policy notice regarding the use of cookies (this banner is displayed until consent is given or denied, as explained below).
If the user gives consent, this is stored by the Data Controller, using a technical cookie, for a duration of 12 months.
The user is notified through a policy notice: both brief (banner) and full version. Furthermore, indicated below are the links to third parties’ privacy policies, also for the purpose of disabling them (if this can be achieved directly through the same).
If there are any technical problems related to the provision of consent, the user can contact us through the appropriate channels provided by this website so that we can offer assistance.

How to disable cookies

It is possible to disable cookies, both through the browser settings (see paragraph « How to configure your browser/terminal« ), and a few procedures made available by some third-parties (see paragraph « Third-party cookies used« ).

Types of cookies we use

To allow the use of our website and the provision of our services, we use both so-called persistent cookies (i.e., cookies that remain stored in memory until they are manually deleted by the user or that are deleted automatically after a long time) and so-called session cookies, which are not stored permanently on the visitor’s computer and disappear when the browser is closed.

We use cookies of different types – with specific functions – that we can classify as follows:

First-party cookies, i.e., sent by cocif.com

WHAT DO THEY DO?

Session and browsing technical cookies
(User consent is not required to send this type of cookie)

These are essential for the proper functioning of our website and allow the user to browse and view its content. If they were disabled the website would malfunction. Generally cookies of this type are necessary, for example, to keep a browsing session open or to allow the user to access any personal areas. Also, they can temporarily memorize the text entered when filling in a form, when you return to a previous page during the same session.

Functional technical cookies
(User consent is not required to send this type of cookie)

These allow the user to make the most of the functions offered by the website and to browse more easily. The website works best if these cookies are enabled. However, you can still decide not to allow their activation on your device. For example, cookies of this type can remember which language the user prefers to view in our website.

Consent technical cookies
(User consent is not required to send this type of cookie)

This cookie keeps track of the consent given by the user to the use of cookies on this website, so as not to repeatedly show the short notice on cookies and the request for consent at every subsequent visit.

If the user wishes to disable technical cookies, he or she can refer to the instructions for the main browsers available at the end of this document.

Third-Party cookies, i.e., sent by websites other than cocif.com

WHAT DO THEY DO?

Statistical and analysis cookies
(User consent is not required to send this type of cookie)

These are used to gather information on how users browse our website. This information is analyzed in aggregate form for statistical purposes only. They are not necessary, but they are a great help for us so we can improve our content and our services based on the patterns that we derive from the analysis of the statistics.

Social cookies
(User consent is required to send this type of cookie)

These can be used to allow you to share our content on major social networks and to identify any interactions between these and our websites or our pages. They are not necessary, but allow us to offer services in line with the most current technologies.

Profiling/advertising cookies
(User consent is required to send this type of cookie)

These are used to present you with content, including advertising, that is tailored to your interests. They can also be used, for example, to limit the number of times advertising content is shown or to help us assess the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns or the advertising campaigns on our websites. They are not necessary, but allow us to offer you content that is closer to your interests.

Third-party cookies used

Browsing on this site you will receive both cookies from the cocif.com website, and cookies from third-party websites, which may store cookies on your device on our behalf in order to provide their services.
Third-party cookies allow us to obtain a more complete overview of users’ browsing habits. We use these cookies, for example, to process statistics on the use of our website and to assess your interest in our specific content or services or to allow you to share content on this website on major social networks. More detailed information on these cookies is available in the tables in this document and on the websites of the involved third parties.
