A STORY BUILT ON PEOPLE, SINCE 1945

In the aftermath of World War II, in an Italy devastated by bombing, a strong entrepreneurial drive emerged.
A desire to rise above poverty.

The widespread destruction of our cities led to the creation, construction, and furnishing of countless new homes.

Those were the years in which woodworking companies were founded — enterprises that would go on to shape the history of Italian industry in the decades to come. It was within this fertile context that projects and products were born, laying the foundations of what would later become internationally recognised as Italian design.

This is how Cocif’s story began on 7 August 1945 in Savignano sul Rubicone, along the historic Via Emilia, with the establishment of the Cooperativa Falegnami (Carpenters’ Cooperative). It was the forward-looking initiative of seven friends who decided to open a small artisanal woodworking workshop in rented premises.

Luigi Polverelli, one of the founding members, recalled in 2000:
“In the early days, we would collect oak planks from the bombed bridge over the Rubicon River, using them to build our first home furnishings.”

Cocif has a long history, throughout which the company’s creative strategy has been guided by a curiosity for new languages, a sensitivity to the spirit of the times, and a preference for innovative solutions that continue to inform the company’s projects today.

The Cooperativa Falegnami is founded.

1959

In the newly acquired area on via F. Bandiera in Savignano sul Rubicone, Cocif consolidates its operations, focusing on the production of doors and general furnishing.

1967

The company moves away from general woodworking production in favour of industrial serial manufacturing, specialising exclusively in doors.

1976

Cocif Porte spearheads the merger with another cooperative specialising in window production — the Cooperativa Falegnami di Cesena.
This marks the birth of a company capable of manufacturing both interior doors and windows, completing its range of wooden products.

1979

The company’s evolution continues. Cocif recognises the need to improve efficiency and to bring its operations together in a single, larger site in order to support production growth.
For this reason, an industrial area is acquired in the municipality of Longiano, adjacent to the via Emilia, in via Ponte Ospedaletto.

1980

The new factory and office building are constructed on the newly acquired site.
In just 15 days, during the summer shutdown, the company transfers all production facilities from the two previous plants to the new headquarters.
Operations resume immediately after the break, and within the first year, Cocif achieves a new production record for doors and windows.

1992

Near the production headquarters, Cocif opens its first Flagship Store: a large showroom showcasing its own doors and windows, alongside a curated selection of high-end furnishing solutions.

2003

Expansion of the Longiano production facility, with the introduction of new product lines such as wood-aluminium windows and aluminium shutters.

2006

Cocif increasingly recognises the importance of vertically integrating its production processes, reducing dependence on external suppliers for semi-finished components.
A new factory is built on an adjacent site for the in-house production of door jambs and casings.
This major expansion brings the total production area to 85,000 m² of covered facilities and 25,000 m² of outdoor logistics areas.

2007 - 2009

Horizontal and vertical acquisitions of companies operating in the security doors and glass sectors in Northern Italy.

2010

Cocif acquires 100% of Vetreria Adria Glass in Gatteo (FC), a company specialising in the processing of insulated glass units.
In the same year, a photovoltaic system is installed on the roof of the factory dedicated to door jambs and casings, enabling the production of renewable electricity.

2011

To further expand its range of exterior windows and doors, Cocif introduces PVC window and door systems.
A new assembly line is installed for PVC windows, together with integrated insulated glass installation across all Cocif window models.

2012

In a previously acquired and renovated building, Cocif sets up advanced in-house technologies for the production of aluminium shutters, jambs and doors.
At the same time, new covered structures are built to allow multi-level pallet storage of finished products.

2016

Establishment of a dedicated R&D department and investment in new production lines aimed at renewing and expanding the product range.

2018 - 2024

Expansion in the retail market in Italy and internationally.
Participation in major international trade fairs (Paris, Riyadh).
Installation of two additional photovoltaic systems.
Launch of new production lines for PVC windows, as well as aluminium windows and french doors.
